Basic Aims
  • To interest the children in learning English language and culture through games and fun.
  • To teach the sound system of the English language
  • To develop children's activities both in the memorizing and imitating fields /listening ,repeating/ and in the creative field /understanding and producing sentences by themselves/

  • Suggestions:
Children of this age learn English at the same time as they are developing their mother tongue, and in a similar way to the one by when they are learning their own language/everything that is taught has to be demonstrated with real objects and situations ,pictures , finger puppets or toys, drawing, singing, gestures and miming, playing games and acting, etc./
-The first lessons have to be used for creating a friendly atmosphere. Learn the children's names as fast as possible. This is the first step in building a warm relationship between you and your pupils.
-Always encourage the children. Don't pay a lot off attention to the children's mistakes in the few first lessons. Don't correct the children's errors if that might discourage them in the beginning of the course.
    -Stimulate the children's creative abilities.
-Whatever you do, try to do it in a gamelike way.
-Use games as often as you can, both for the revision of previous lessons and for learning new units.
-The suggested games do not have to be strictly adhered to. You and the children should be encouraged to add your own games.
-Always revise the material from the previous lesson before taking any new material.
-Whenever possible, use TPR /Total Physical Response/ method: Once the children have listened to and understood a section on the audio cassette encourage them to respond actively to physical commands. While listening to the tape stress the rhythm by clapping hands.
-For choosing players in a various games use a "choosing rhyme" such as Eeny Meeny, Miney, Mo. In this way you can avoid favoritism among the children.
-Children love drawing . So let them sometimes draw and don't be afraid that is wasting the time.
-I hope that you'll enjoy your work with the children as much as possible. The more you enjoy the program, the more your children will learn.
